Monarch in Katy is a great spot for authentic Dominican food. The atmosphere is casual and welcoming, making you feel comfortable from the moment you walk in. I ordered the mofongo with steak, and it was excellent — flavorful, well-seasoned, and cooked perfectly. The portions were generous and everything tasted fresh. The service was great and attentive throughout the visit. Definitely a place I’d recommend if you’re craving real Dominican cuisine in Katy.

Great place, good atmosphere, exceptional staff. We came in for dinner, could not enjoy the meal more; I had lamb lollipops, salad, great wine. My husband had steak, salad. Beautiful location in ZaZa Hotel, nice music.

Austin C was THE BEST server I've encountered potentially ever. This man surprised me with what I wanted before I even knew I wanted it! He went over and above from the moment we sat down. Without knowing it, Austin created an experience I won't forget from my recent trip to Austin. Thank you sir. Your service was sublime! Oh yeah... Food was excellent too. Almost forgot because we were so taken a back by Austin. 😂

I had such an amazing experience at Monarch Restaurant. From the moment I walked in, the atmosphere felt upscale yet inviting, the kind of place that makes you want to linger and enjoy every detail. The staff were attentive and friendly they really made the afternoon special. The menu is outstanding, carefully curated, full of rich flavors and fresh ingredients. Our order felt intentional and beautifully presented.

Had a wonderful birthday celebration dinner here with my daughter and my cousin. Food was good and the server was great. I forgot his name and I hate that because I like to give recognition properly. He was a younger tall guy with blonde hair. He was kind, very attentive, patient and had a wonderful personality. If the restaurant see this and knows who I'm referring to please let him know how wonderful he was. We were there til almost closing the night of Dec 29, 2025 if that helps narrow down who was scheduled that night.

Excuse me, this is by far, one of my favorite Hotels due to its elegant and vintage design. The Monarch also adds a nice touch to aesthetics, offering delicious food & a soft dining experience. My favorite feature is the grand piano room that accompanies a crystal chandelier hanging center over—there also happens to be framed art throughout, giving it a unique museum feel The food and drinks served at the Monarch are tasty, their lamb lollipops and salad are my favorite! I literally have no complaints—as this is one of my go to restaurants

How come I didn’t know about this place?! Monarch Restaurant located inside Zaza Hotel, is a hidden gem 💎 by the Museum District, perfect location for such a beautiful restaurant. They have valet and friendly hotel hosts that welcome you at your arrival. Monarch staff is attentive and knowledgeable. This restaurant is famous for their Lamb Lollipops, and this is one of my favorites dishes, I have had Lamb Lollipops in many other restaurants, but these blew my mind away! With crushed pistachios and feta cheese, this one of the items they will forever keep, absolutely delicious! We also had pizza, very good as well. The restaurant is beautifully decorated, there is so much art in every corner, definitely a charming place for a date, happy hour or business diner. You will not regret dining here!

We popped in for just 1 round of cocktails for the 3 of us. The drinks are impressive, upscale & pricey. Definitely worth the ambiance & the location! Beautiful presentation & excellent service!

While waiting for our room to become available at Zaza, my sister and I took advantage of the attached restaurant and had a light lunch. We ordered the same thing and both agreed that the Garlic and Herb Chicken Tartine was lovely. The chicken was perfectly cooked, and the lemon aioli was a spectacular compliment to the arugula on top drizzled with a vinaigrette. There was a choice of salad or fries and we both opted for salads (currently patting ourselves on the back), but I did not love the extra fishy caesar dressing, and my sister was not a big fan of the dill dressing that she requested. The wait staff was perfection. We wanted for nothing but were allowed to enjoy our conversation without being interrupted. An overall wonderful experience. *We ordered room service later into our stay and were also impressed with the food and service.

Came here for lunch on a Sunday afternoon and it was lovely. I ordered the grilled chicken tartine and has a strawberry prosecco cocktail. The garlic fries and goat cheese ranch were to die for. Everything tasted so good and the service was excellent. We sat on the terrace and enjoyed the weather. It wasn't crowded or loud. The lobby is so pretty and everything is decorated very nice.
